About us
A community organisation built around the woman who feeds her family.
Wezesha Mkulima CBO works with women, girls, farmers and rural families, using practical training and community programmes to build food security, nutrition, livelihoods and climate resilience.
Background
Where our work begins
Behind many rural families is a hardworking woman who farms with limited land and resources and is determined to give her children a better future. She works small plots, walks long distances for water and stretches what she has to feed her household.
Wezesha Mkulima CBO exists to stand with her. We believe that empowering a woman farmer can transform an entire family and eventually an entire community — and that food, nutrition, climate and the environment are one story, not separate projects.
Our work is practical and community-based: demonstrations on real farms, training sessions, nutrition awareness, girl-child activities, environmental education and peer-to-peer learning using locally available resources.
Vision
To create empowered, self-reliant and climate-resilient communities where women and girls have opportunities to thrive, families enjoy improved food security and proper nutrition, livelihoods are strengthened, and the environment is protected for present and future generations.
Mission
To empower vulnerable women, girls, farmers and rural families through practical training and community programmes in sustainable agriculture, nutrition, climate change adaptation, agroforestry, water harvesting, environmental conservation, recycling, organic farming, renewable energy, and livelihood development.
Core values
What guides every programme.
Empowerment
We build capability, not dependency.
Sustainability
Practices that hold up long after a training ends.
Nutrition & Healthy Families
Food that nourishes, not just food that fills.
Equality & Inclusion
Women, girls and every household have a place at the table.
Community Participation
Communities lead; we walk alongside them.
Environmental Conservation
Soil, water, trees and biodiversity are protected.
Innovation
Practical, locally-grounded solutions to real problems.
Our approach
Learning by Doing.
- 01
Listen
We begin with the community — its land, its needs and its own knowledge.
- 02
Learn
We study the challenge together: soil, water, crops, nutrition and climate.
- 03
Demonstrate
We show the practice on real farms, not on paper.
- 04
Practice
Farmers try the method themselves, with support close at hand.
- 05
Share
Peer-to-peer learning spreads what works from neighbour to neighbour.
- 06
Grow
Households build on early gains — more food, better nutrition, stronger income.
- 07
Transform
The community becomes more self-reliant, healthier and climate-resilient.

Why Wezesha Mkulima
One story, not eleven separate projects.
Empower people, grow food, improve nutrition, protect the environment, build climate resilience, strengthen families, transform communities. Every programme we run is a link in that chain.
When we empower a woman, we strengthen an entire family and community.
Together
Change Is Stronger When We Build It Together.
Wezesha Mkulima CBO welcomes partners, supporters and volunteers who want to see women, girls, families and rural communities thrive.
